Description
Nagi Diary tells the story of Yuki, an architect active in Tokyo and Taiwan, who visits Yoshiko, a sculptor working with wood from nearby mountains. Through her encounters with Yoshiko and her family, Yuki discovers small changes in her daily life. The film has been officially selected for the competition section of the Cannes Film Festival.

知らなかった。私のこと、あなたのこと。 近くの山から切り出される木でひとり彫刻を作る寄子。ある日、東京と台湾で建築家として活躍してきた友梨は、 数日間の休暇をとって、別れた夫の姉・寄子のもとを訪れる。都会にはない「ナギ」での穏やかな生活。妻を亡くした寄子の幼なじみの好浩、そして息子の春樹とその親友の圭太――人々との出会いは、日常に小さな揺らぎをもたらしていく。やがて、彫刻のモデルを毎晩つとめるなかで寄子の知られざる喪失に触れ、友梨にも変化が起きていく。第39回岸田國士戯曲賞を受賞した平田オリザの代表作「東京ノート」に着想を得て、深田監督自らオリジナル脚本を執筆。同作の精神を受け継ぎながらも「ナギ(岡山県奈義町がモデル)」を舞台に新たな物語を紡ぎ、企画の立ち上げから9年の歳月を経て完成させた意欲作。今年で79回目を迎える世界三大映画祭の最高峰、カンヌ国際映画祭。最高賞パルムドールを競う部門として最も注目が集まる「コンペティション部門」に正式出品されることが発表された。深田監督は、2016年の『淵に立つ』でカンヌ国際映画祭ある視点部門で審査員賞を受賞。その後も、20年に『本気のしるし〈劇場版〉』(オフィシャルセレクション)、25年に『恋愛裁判』(カンヌ・プレミア部門)が選出されており、本作で2年連続4度目のカンヌ正式出品にして、初のコンペティション部門選出という快挙を果たした。さらに本作は、主演の松たか子、共演の石橋静河、松山ケンイチら実力派キャスト陣にとっても、出演作が“初のカンヌ選出”という記念すべき作品となった。
